Beneath the Surface is the first novel in the Blue Marble Series, and follows 11 year old Xing Xing into the South China Sea after she discovers a special power that allows her to connect with ocean life. The new series takes readers deep below sea level through both fantasy and fact.

Enjoy a reading from author Carissa Welton, who found her writing inspiration SCUBA diving in Asia and mentoring Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots groups in China. In addition to the reading, guests will have a chance to interact with the story through interactive and collaborative activities.

This special event is geared towards middle grade readers, ages 10-13, and siblings ages 6-9 are also welcome.
